Mary Help of Christians Primary School Sawtell, will receive a $2.9 million grant from the NSW Government towards a major refurbishment and facility upgrade.

The NSW Government grant will go towards the school’s $4.1 million upgrade project that includes construction of a new classroom block, refurbishment of other classrooms and the creation of a new library.

The project will improve the existing design and layout of the school.

Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser welcomed the NSW Government funding, which will be provided under the Building Grants Assistance Scheme.

Mr Fraser told Triple M, “It’s vital all students get the best education we can provide them, and supporting projects like this helps to provide a top-quality education”.

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was working hard to deliver the school facilities students needed.

“We want to provide high quality education facilities to all students, regardless of what school they go to, so they can succeed and thrive in the 21st century,” Mr Stokes said.

The BGAS grant for Mary Help of Christians School is part of a $33 million NSW Government program directed towards independent and Catholic schools with the greatest need, to help them cater for growing enrolments and refurbish or build new facilities.

The grants help schools improve the learning environments for their students, giving schools contemporary facilities that reflect modern learning needs.
