Trees Down as Wild Storms Cause Damage on Coffs Coast

Severe storms have ripped through parts of the Coffs Coast leaving many customers without power and trees down.

While more than 2300 customers in areas around Upper Orara and Karangi are no power.

Raleigh, Mylestom, and Urunga were the hardest hit with around 1800 customers without electricity.

Trees have been brought down in the strong winds.

One witness told Triple M, "it was like a mini tornado with loud bangs and whirling winds".

SES crews are currently working on a backlog of jobs to assist with the damage, while crews from Essential Energy work to restore power to the areas.

It is unknown how long before electricity will be restored to the area.

Those needing assistance after the storms can call SES on 132 500.

While crews work to clean up many jobs, SES Units are asking that people be patient.
