A truck has taken out a guard rail on the Pacific Highway at Nambucca Heads.

About 2km north of Nambucca Heads, the southbound truck appears to have run into the barriers near the new highway construction.

Emergency Services and RMS are at the scene, with traffic affected in both directions.

Triple M listeners Kristy told Moffee, 'it almost looks like the truck has tried to drive on the new highway'.

According to the Traffic Managment Centre, there is also a fuel spill at the site from the damaged truck.

An alternative route this morning for motorists is to take Riverside Drive into Nambucca Heads.
