Coffs Harbour City Council have release a further statement regarding Coffs Creek.

It follows a story that Triple M broke on Thursday afternoon, warning the public against entering Coffs Creek after a sewer spill earlier in the day.

Council advised the media at 4:48pm of the spill that took place at 9:15am.

Last night Triple M advised the public as a priority with a large volume of holiday makers arriving for the Easter Weekend.

Today Coffs Harbour City Council released another statement to say that the samples have been analysed and the community are advised not to enter the water at Coffs Creek and not fish or swim in the area.

“Signage has been erected along the affected area of the creek and Council staff will be patrolling the area today to ensure that the public are aware of the issue”.

Many locals have taken to social media questioning why the public were not notified immediately, rather that later in the afternoon.

Council say that further samples will be taken today and the community updated again ‪tomorrow morning‬.
