The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter responded to a head on crash west of Grafton this afternoon.

Emergency services arrived on the scene just after 3:30pm at Clarence Way in Copmanhurst following reports of the two car collision.

A 45 year old woman was treated at the scene by the critical care medical team before being airlifted to the Lismore Base Hospital.

The remaining occupants were taken by road ambulance to Coffs Harbour and Grafton Hospitals.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Police closed one lane heading north on the Pacific Highway near Lindsays Road at Boambee East following an incident earlier this afternoon.

The highway has since been reopened.
