Construction has begun on a brand new library at Coffs Harbour Public School to support students in their studies and encourage a love of learning.

The first sod was turned by Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, and Principal, Leonie Buehler on Monday for the library which will be housed in a new multi-storey building being delivered by the NSW Government.

The works also include an upgrade to the administration block with kitchen facilities and a designated staff area, improvements to the school’s main entry way and two new classrooms, which will cater for the growing local community.

Speaking at the school Mr Fraser said the new facilities will bring great benefits to students.

“This new library will become a key part of Coffs Harbour Public School and support the wonderful work of its students and staff,” Mr Fraser said.

“I’m delighted I’ve been able to work with the Education Minister and the NSW Government to deliver this vital addition to our school.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was focused on delivering the school facilities that local communities need now and into the future.

“This project will give Coffs Harbour Public School students access to high-quality resources that will serve the school community for generations to come,” Mr Stokes said.

The project is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program over the next four years, which will deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities throughout NSW.

It is the largest investment into public school infrastructure by any state government in Australian history.
