The region’s international education and training sector has received a boost, with the Toowoomba Regional Council receiving $30K in grants from the Queensland Government’s International Education and Training Partnership Fund.

Council led the funding application with the support of the University of Southern Queensland.  TAFE Queensland South West, Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE), Department of Education & Training, Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and local schools are also involved in the proposal.

Council were successful in receiving two grants - $17,500 to investigate the establishment of a formal education cluster in the region and a $12,500 grant to conduct a collaborative international student welcome event.

“Council and USQ will also match this funding contribution to help shape and build the international student experience in Toowoomba.”

Mayor Antonio said the establishment of a formal education cluster in the region would bring Toowoomba in line with other major cities in Queensland.
