More than 30 locals fronted Council yesterday to have their voices heard over the proposed 40-lot housing estate on the escarpment of Prince Henry Heights that had been recommended for approval by TRC’s Planning & Development Department.

With Council voting against the development Mayor Paul Antonio said, "I've sat here and listened the debate, and while I compliment our staff on the work they've done, a lot of the questions asked were very pointed, particularly regarding the value we have to the escarpment.”

 

Council chambers was scene of relief and happiness with the outcome, however, the celebrations may be short-lived with developer Shangri-La International Holdings Pty Ltd having the right to appeal the decision the planning and environment court.
