For those who love a bargain and love to travel overseas, our future in holiday destinations from Toowoomba could soon be a whole lot brighter.

Low cost airline Air Asia has shown interest in the Garden City, with possible plans to fly in and out of Toowoomba Wellcamp airport.

CEO if Air Asia Tony Fernandez says Toowoomba is definitely on the list of regional options.

At present, AirAsia operates more than 65 flights per week from Australia including direct services between Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast to our hub in Kuala Lumpur and daily flights between Perth and Denpasar, Bali.

The airline is looking at Toowoomba as an alternative to Brisbane in an attempt to avoid paying the costs of flying in and out of Brisbane.  Newcastle is also high on their radar.

And the really great news is that if the company gets more destinations like Toowoomba on board, they can then bring fares down another 20 per cent, pending what oil costs are doing.

Win, win!
