A Stanthorpe woman has confessed she nearly fell over from the shock of recently scratching one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The pensioner bought the winning ticket from Stanthorpe Newsagency, which earlier this month sold a division one winning Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto entry.

The win is also the third Instant Scratch-Its top prize to land in the region during the past two months.  Last month, a Goondiwindi farmer scratched $100,000 on her Instant Scratch-Its $5 Crosswords ticket, while earlier an Inglewood great grandfather revealed $10,000 on his $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

Speaking to a Golden Casket official this week to claim her prize, the happy woman recounted the shock of revealing one of the $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its top prizes.

“It was a big surprise!” she laughed.

“I was back at home when I scratched it and I nearly fell over when I first saw it!

“We’re regular players, but we haven’t won anything like this before.”

The woman plans to use her Instant Scratch-Its windfall to help set herself up for the future.  She also shared how her winning streak continued after the top prize revelation.

“We took the winning ticket into the outlet – they were so excited for us.  While we were there we bought some more Instant Scratch-Its tickets,” she explained.

“But they were in a pocket and ended up going through the wash.  I had to dry the tickets out but I could still scratch them and we won $10 and $5!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her top-prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Stanthorpe Newsagency, 16 Maryland Street, Stanthorpe.
