A professional boxer accused of assaulting a woman in Toowoomba last year wants to take his case to a higher court with his lawyers asking the case against him be transferred to a district court.

Police allege that the Olympian had assaulted, held the woman against her will, choked and pushed a woman out of a moving car during a two-day ordeal that took place in Toowoomba last November.

At his last court appearance in Toowoomba he told media he would be contesting the charges.

He was not required to be in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today when all charges were mentioned.

The 26-year-old boxer has not been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include deprivation of liberty, choking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court remanded him on bail with strict conditions to appear for a full hand-up committal hearing in the same court in April.
