The Carers Queensland office for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Local Area Coordinator, Partner in the Community, Toowoomba, will be officially opened on Monday, 5 June 2017.

Guests of honour at the official opening at 10am will be the Assistant Minister for Social Services and Disability Services, the Hon Jane Prentice MP, Dr John McVeigh MP, Federal Member for Groom, and Mr Jim Toohey, President, Carers Queensland.

Mr Toohey said Carers Queensland was thrilled to be partnering with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to help deliver such an exciting social reform in the disability sector across this region.

“Those accessing the NDIS can have confidence in the process we’re undertaking on behalf of NDIA, as well as in the people we’ve employed,” he said.

“We have a lot of knowledge and experience amongst the team who will be supporting participants to enter the NDIS.”

Following the official opening, there will be a community open day starting from 11.30am, and all members of the public are welcome to come along and join in the celebrations.

The open day will include a free barbecue, entertainment, tours of the building, presentations, and the chance to meet staff and have questions answered.

Area manager of the NDIS LAC PITC program in Toowoomba Megan Halliday said staff were looking forward to meeting as many people as possible and sharing information about the NDIS.

“Everyone is welcome to join us for this celebration,” she said.

The community Open Day will run until 2pm at 632 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba.
