There's only one day until Toowoomba's biggest festival kicks off for another year.

Visitors started making their way up the range early for the start of the Carnival of Flowers tomorrow.

There have been some concerns leading into the event for 2017 as a warm winter had given the seedlings a boost with some of the flowers in bloom earlier than expected.

Tourism and events councillor Jeff McDonald says everything is on track:

“Preparations are well and truly on track.  Of course we haven’t any rain to worry about, not that we wouldn’t need some – we do need some rain, but preparations ar certainly well in hand.

There's  lots of infrastructure going up in the park for the Ergon Food and Energy Wine Festival, also, particularly around the CBD we’ll see a lot of activity as we get closer to the weekend in regard to the Grand Central Floral Parade.

While accommodation has been booked months ahead of this weekends’ event Cr McDonald says he is confident visitors will find somewhere to stay:

“The Burke & Wills Hotel had already planned their refurbishments so they are well and truly underway and that will become a great addition to the CBD once those rooms are refurbed.  And of course the Quest Apartments are still hopeful they will open in the not too distant future.

So definitely around Carnival of Festival Flowers time it has opened up great opportunities for other venues and we are also the likes of Air B’n’B being utilized.”

HAPPY Festival!
