The Commonwealth Games will be celebrated in Toowoomba when the Bell Street Mall comes alive with a host of free sports and activities on Saturday 14 April 2018.

The Games On Bell’s is all part of the Queensland Government's Embracing 2018 Legacy Program for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and is funded by the Australian Government and Toowoomba Regional Council.

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Strategic Planning and Economic Development portfolio leader Cr Anne Glasheen said the Games On Bell’s will feature free demonstrations and activities from local community groups and organisations in a variety of sports including athletics, basketball, rugby, tennis and boxing.

“The Games On Bell’s will provide a fun, hands-on experience for those looking to be a part of the Commonwealth Games festivities,” Cr Glasheen said.

“Along with your more traditional sports, the Games On Bell’s will also feature cheerleading, skateboarding, yoga, laser skirmish and gymnastics.

“The Games On Bell’s is an example of non-traditional and unstructured ways that urban public places such as Bell Street Mall can be used for active recreation and to build strong and healthy communities.

“The event will have something for people of all ages and interests and I encourage everyone to come down and have a go at the different sports and activities that will be on offer.

The Games On Bell’s will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 14 April and will also feature other free activities including face painting, giant games and blender bikes.

A full schedule of events is available on Council’s Your Say website (yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au/on-bells).
