Police have charged a man and a woman after they chained themselves to a concrete-filled barrel on the rail line a Jondaryan on Thursday.

The protest started around 6:30AM and lasted for a good six hours before police removed the pair from the tracks.

While the duo sat on the tracks with their arms locked inside the barrel filled with concrete, they had succeeded in causing a disruption to the rail lines with police spending their time trying to free them.

Both protesters were arrested and taken to the Toowoomba watch-house, each charged with one count of trespass, one count of obstructing police, one count of obstructing a railway, and one count of disobeying a direction.
