With Christmas fast approaching there’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than by decking out the house and entering the 2017 Spirit of the Lockyer Valley Christmas Lights and Decoration Competition.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan is encouraging residents of all ages to get into the spirit of the season.
“Now is the time to start planning your light display!
“To see families drive around in the lead-up to Christmas looking at the lights is lovely, in what can often be a busy time of year.
“There is something about Christmas lights that make us stop and really think about the significance of the festive season, family and friends.
“Get behind this great competition and make sure you enter!” Mayor Milligan said."
The six categories open in the Christmas Lights Competition this year include:
- Best nativity scene
- Best decorated home
- Best decorated or lit business
- Best novice - first time entrant
- Best community group
- Best solar powered display
- Best recycling display
There are great prizes to be won, including $500 value per category.
The competition is now open and entries close at 4.30pm on Friday 24 November.
