A Grantham Labrador is recovering after being shot in the head with a shot gun.

Owner Kayla Evans found her dog in the backyard of her home last week, its head covered in blood.

X-rays of the animal show that Lola had 30 slug pellets embedded in her skin and forehead.  The dog underwent surgery lasting four hours with only 7 of the 30 slugs able to be removed.

Lola will recover but she has been left swollen, traumatized and in pain.

Ms Evan's described the attack as sickening and is unsure why anyone would want to do this to her dog.
