The Federal Government has moved to ban international lottery organisation sites such as Lottoland from operating in the Darling & Southern Downs,

The ban is something that Maranoa MP David Littleproud has put his full support behind.

He says that these synthetic lotteries or foreign on-line betting agencies are impacting small businesses as they were losing to these online gambling organisations who weren’t having to pay tax.

Newsagents, pubs and clubs from across the region and the Maranoa were among 500 signatures on a petition calling for the ban.

The ban would be phased in over a six month period.
