First stage of Goombungee’s Mocatta Street Upgrade

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) plans to commence stage one improvement works in Mocatta Street, Goombungee from June this year.

TRC Deputy Mayor and Infrastructure Services Committee chair Cr Carol Taylor said the initial work would see the installation of a concrete footpath between Lilly and Edward Streets fronting the Goombungee State School and Recreational Reserve.

“Further construction of a smaller section of concrete footpath also will be undertaken fronting St Matthew’s Lutheran Church, along with the installation of two bus shelters on Mocatta Street in the vicinity of Kann Street and the Girl Guides building,” Cr Taylor said.

“In early May, Council is inviting the public to inspect the proposed concept designs for additional works and comment on the next stages of Goombungee’s Mocatta Street improvement works.

“Council is seeking comments on the provision of disabled parking bays and ways to improve mobility access along the street.

“Feedback also will be sought on the proposed concepts associated with the War Memorial.

“The draft plans are designed to improve road safety along Mocatta Street for all road users.”

Interested residents are welcome to attend the sessions at the Goombungee Service Centre (89 Mocatta Street, Goombungee), on Monday, May 8 (9am to 5pm) and Tuesday, May 9 (from 9am to 7pm).

Council staff will be available on these dates to discuss the proposed plans for the future works.

Cr Taylor said Council welcomed feedback and was encouraging residents to attend the displays and have their say on the proposed concept designs.
