Free Caravan Safety Check Days Return to Toowoomba Due to High Demand

Following the success of their first event, Caravanning Queensland is holding its second Caravan Safety Check Day in Toowoomba this weekend.

The Safety Check Day will be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds from Saturday 19^th and Sunday 20^th August.

The event is a free event but you do need to register for the event to have your caravan checked for free.

There are more than 82 caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and other recreational vehicles, registered to take part over the weekend.

Held in conjunction with Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Gas & Petroleum Inspectorate, the free event will enable more than 82 registered caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and other types of recreational vehicle registering to be weighed, measured and audited, with qualified inspectors educating owners on any breaches, rather than issuing fines on the days.

Caravanning Queensland CEO, Ron Chapman, said Safety Checks enable caravan owners to be more informed of the safety standards and maintenance required to safely enjoy their vehicles for years to come.

“We’re thrilled to bring this free, educational initiative back to Toowoomba for another round," Mr Chapman said.  “We were overwhelmed with the number of responses to our first day back in May, with many who missed out requesting that we return to the region sooner rather than later.  “

Mr Chapman said the Toowoomba Safety Check Day is purely about getting together for safety and maintenance.  “Safety Checks aim to ensure that all those important safety questions caravan owners have about maintaining their vehicle are answered by industry experts.” 

“It’s wonderful to hear that so many local caravan owners are putting safety as their number one priority when towing or driving a recreational vehicle.”
