A new free “on demand” film streaming service is now available to all Toowoomba Regional Council library users.

Library users have over 30,000 titles to choose by using this free on-demand film streaming service.

The service enables library customers to access films from any computer, mobile device, television or platform by downloading the Kanopy app.

Through the Kanopy app, users can access a range of classic and main stream movies, art house and indie productions, documentaries and an extensive collection of foreign films in over 150 languages - all of which have English subtitles.

Since launching in early August, the site has seen 1686 users visit, 1999 searched for information about a movie/documentary, and 279 titles watched. This is exciting news and shows this new film streaming service will provide yet another great benefit to library members.

Councillor Joe Ramia says ; “Parents, teachers and children of all ages also have the opportunity to watch Kanopy Kids which offers educational and engaging videos that promote positive social and emotional development and inspire creativity in young minds. Teachers can also screen films free in the classroom.

“Films are organised in genres and sub genres with about 150 new titles added monthly, ensuring the catalogue continues to remain updated.

“Customers can watch up to 10 films each month and have three days to watch once accessed.”
