One person’s trash is set to become another’s treasure with the inaugural Toowoomba Orthodontists Pop Up Pallets Project.

School groups, retirees, community groups and creative members of the community have been busy upcycling wooden pallets, which are set to go under the hammer at a special cocktail evening in June.

Due to an overwhelming response, registrations for remodelling the pallets have now closed and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is calling on the community to dig deep and support this fantastic community event.

“We have had over 30 registered participants and have already received some of the finished products which are truly remarkable,” Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO, Alison Kennedy said.

“One of the stand-out pieces we have received is an intricate rocking horse which has been fashioned only from wooden pallets. It is hard to believe that some of these pieces have been created from such humble beginnings.”

Residents will be able to have a sneak peek at some of the pieces, which will be on show at Grand Central Shopping Centre from now until the commencement of the auction on June 22 at the Blank Space, Mills Precinct.

In keeping with the building theme, The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is very excited to announce that TV star Keith The Forman (Keith Schleiger) from ‘The Block’ will be making a special guest appearance.

“As the official Block Foreman or Blockinator, Keith will be inspecting the participant’s pieces prior to the auction to ensure quality control,” Alison Kennedy said.

All proceeds will be donated to Triple M’s Give Me 5 For Kids Appeal.

Tickets for the Cocktail Function will be on sale from Monday April 9, and are available via the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation website: https://www.toowoombahospitalfoundation.org.au/
