A Toowoomba Magistrate has handed down a $50,000 fine to a Gatton budget accommodation owner.

50-year-old Mayla Patterson pleading guilty in court yesterday to more than 40 breaches of fire safety regulation including not insuring smoke and fire alarms were active and not fixing escape plan diagrams.

It is not the first time Patterson has fronted court over the same issue.  She has also appeared in court in both 2013 and 2015.

On top of the fine Mayla was also sentenced to jail for 3 months – suspended for 4 years.
