Toowoomba detectives are seeking public assistance to locate a Good Samaritan who was driving a blue Holden Commodore sedan in Cambooya this morning.

The driver gave a lift to three people who may be able to assist with an investigation into the ramming of a police car and the theft and arson of a vehicle.

A white Mercedes Benz SUV was stolen from a Newtown house on September 9. Around 8.30am police witnessed the stolen vehicle in James Street, parking behind the car. The driver of the stolen vehicle has reversed into the unmarked police car before driving forward through a fence and yard. The vehicle then drove north on Kitchener Road.

At 9.45am police were notified a Mercedes Benz had been set alight at Cambooya near the intersection of Kuhn and Perrin Road and three young people were seen to run from the vehicle.

Not long after, a female and two males managed to get a lift from the driver of a blue coloured Holden Commodore Sedan near the Cambooya Bowls Club area.

Police would like the driver of the Holden Commodore to contact them, as they believe they may be able to assist police with their investigation.
