Grand Central Redevelopment Brings New Opportunity for Locals

Toowoomba locals, Mark and Dovie Tarrant, have turned their sweet dream of running their own business into reality with an exciting new store, The Lolli Shop.

The Lolli Shop will make its debut on March 29 as part of the opening of Stage Two of Grand Central’s redevelopment.

Owner Mark Tarrant said locals with a sweet tooth — himself included — are in for a treat with the new confectionery store.

“Dovie and I have lived in the area for the past 15 years and thought the redevelopment was a perfect opportunity to launch a new business venture,” Mr Tarrant said.

“I’ve always prided myself on maintaining an impressive lolly jar of my own at home, so I’m looking forward to sharing this confectionery appreciation with locals.

“We’ll have more than 140 types of confectionery — from old favourites, to international brands, to the latest sugary crazes.

“Personally, I’m looking forward to stocking the entire range of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans and trying every flavour,” Mr Tarrant said.

The store will also stock flavoured popcorn with a twist, with flavours including rocky road, chocolate mint and classic caramel, as well as colour-themed confectionery for weddings and parties.

The $500 million Grand Central Shopping Centre redevelopment will on completion see more than 160 specialty retailers added to the centre, including locally-owned business The Lolli Shop on the ground level.

Stage Two of the redevelopment, which is bounded by Victoria, Margaret and Duggan Streets, is set to open in time for Easter.
