Health Workers Roll Up Their Sleeves for Red25 Blood Challenge

Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (DDHHS) staff are rolling up their sleeves to help ensure the Australian Red Cross Blood Service supply never runs dry.

The DDHHS has registered to be part of the 2017 Red25 Health Services Blood Challenge, uniting in a campaign to give blood until 30 June.

Last year, people from hospitals and other health organisations across Australia made a total of 3287 blood donations in the inaugural Red25 Health Services Blood Challenge.

During the coming weeks, DDHHS staff will be registering as part of the DDHHS Red25 group to make sure their blood donation is added to the tally in this year’s battle.

Toowoomba Hospital Transfusion Nurse Susan Kay is the DDHHS Red25 Co-ordinator and is encouraging all DDHHS staff to donate blood as part of the challenge.

“As a transfusion nurse I see on a first-hand how important the Red Cross Blood Service is, saving the lives of everyday people and saving their families from the devastation of losing a loved one.
