A young woman injured while bush walking has been winched to safety by LifeFlight's Toowoomba-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew.
It is believed the 25-year old woman had been bush walking near Flinders Plum Picnic Area at Peak Crossing yesterday when she fell, suffering a suspected severe ankle injury.
Due to the terrain a ground medical crew was unable to reach the woman, so the SGAS helicopter was called just before 2pm.
Upon arrival at the scene the helicopter winched a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Paramedic and LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor down to the woman. They treated her and prepared her to be winched into the helicopter.
The helicopter airlifted the woman to Archerfield Airport. She was then transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by QAS.
