A coronial inquest will look at ways to make cranes on public roads safer after a Toowoomba woman and her son lost their lives on the New England Highway.

On the 16th September 2013, Christine and Samuel Leonardi’s car was struck by an out of control crane while on their way to school.

Reports indicate that the damage was so bad that the make and model of the car were unrecognizable.

The inquest will look at how the accident happened and what could have been done to prevent it and ways to make cranes safer on our roads.

The inquest will start in July.
