An innovative Toowoomba businesswoman has landed herself a coup by importing the first textile cargo into Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.

Brooke Jones, who owns the popular Smoke and Mirrors boutique in the Toowoomba CBD, realised the international freight service – Cathay Pacific CX022 – would allow her to not only import stock directly to wholesalers in Melbourne and Sydney but also bring supplies directly to her doorstep for warehousing and dispatching to national and international clients.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity the freight service brings to my business.

“The airport has created the chance for business like mine to be able to develop international networks. We don’t need to be based in capital city to operate a successful business,” said Ms Jones.

Ms Jones will be importing her three brands into Australia; Little Tanning Dress, Beautique Designs and Wildflower Collective.

“I started Little Tanning Dress about a year ago offering a niche market that hadn’t been done before - a dress designed to take you from spray booth to street, in style.

“Since launching Little Tanning Dress and selling direct to hair and beauty salons the team behind the brand identified a need in the market for salon uniforms that were bleach and hair dye resistant.

“After plenty of research and development I started Beautique Designs (BD), an on trend, free size bleach resistant clothing range,” said Ms Jones.

She will also be importing her everyday leisurewear label Wildflower Creative, a trans-seasonal brand designed for women of all ages.

Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport general manager Ms Sara Hales said it was great to see local businesses seize the opportunity that the cargo services into and out of the airport had created.

“We love to hear about local businesses reaching out to the global marketplace using our infrastructure – that is precisely what Wellcamp Airport is for.  Congratulations and thanks to Ms Jones for her her entrepreneurship and vision,” said Ms Hales.
