Police arrest rates for Juveniles across the Darling Downs has risen by 60% in the last 12 months.
Police have seen increases of 60% in unlawful use of a motor vehicle, 30% increase in break-ins, and 12% increase in theft.
It’s an issue that police are struggling to explain but Acting Superintendent Dave Isherwood says locking them up is only a short-term solution. He wants to see some steps taken to changing attitudes through intervention programs.
