The Pittsworth community will band together once again, helping to raise money for the LifeFlight Foundation at the annual Toowoomba Regional Council Mayoral Prayer Breakfast and Golf Day next Thursday.

The Pittsworth community has felt the benefits of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter service, with two serious accidents rocking the small town this year and have pledged to donate all funds raised at their breakfast to the LifeFlight Foundation.

Two young children were airlifted by the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter in late June after they were hit by a ute in Pittsworth’s main street.

The brother and sister suffered life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where they have since made a good recovery.

The town was again shaken two months ago when an employee from the Pittsworth Council was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident and was airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew to the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in Brisbane, where he remains in the neurological rehabilitation unit.

Former Toowoomba Regional Councillor and Pittsworth Mayor, Ros Scotney said without LifeFlight, the outcomes would have been very different.

“These two events affected the town badly. It was great that LifeFlight could be there to get them to Brisbane so quickly,” she said.

“The two children are now back at school and the Council employee is under rehabilitation in hospital.”

In its third year, the Mayoral Prayer Breakfast and Golf Day has supported a number of worthwhile charities which have had a real impact on the Pittsworth community.

Attendees will be treated to breakfast, an address from Toowoomba Regional Councillor Paul Antonio, and prayers from Ministers from Pittsworth’s local churches.

Helicopter moneyboxes will sit on each table and a raffle will be run to help raise vital funds for the LifeFlight Foundation, which supports the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue service.

The breakfast will be held at Pittsworth Golf Club, Thursday October 19, with Mayor Antonio teeing off at 8am for a game of ‘hit and miss’ on the golf course following the event.
