Toowoomba Regional Council will apply temporary change to traffic conditions on Mally Road, Hodgson Vale as it carries out safety improvement works. Construction work will begin tomorrow (October 3) to replace a steel culvert that is in poor condition with a multi-cell reinforced box culvert and complete upgrades to adjacent roads and drainage works.

Work at the culvert, between Bradley Court and Bunya Pine Drive, was expected to take up to six months to complete, weather permitting. The nature of the work will mean the road will be closed during the culvert renewal and detours will be in place for the construction period.

Council will replace the existing culvert and take this opportunity to build in improved flood resilience.

They will also complete additional works with the culvert upgrade including replacement of the water main at the culvert crossing, embankment stabilisation, realigning of storm water pipes and pedestrian footpath construction.

Construction will start:

  • Wednesday, October 3 2018.
  • Works will generally occur between 6am – 6pm on weekdays; however, there may be a requirement to undertake some weekend and night works.

Once completed, the new structure will improve safety and build in flood resilience allowing continued access for the local community.

Council has been working with effected residents to make sure they are fully informed about the project including identifying alternate routes during the Mally Road closure, Cr Taylor saying Council will seek to minimise disruption where possible and apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for the community’s patience during the project.
