A man has been charged with arson after a home was damaged by fire in Warwick this morning.

Around 9am, emergency services were called to a home that was ablaze on the corner of Wood Street and Stewart Avenue.

No one was inside at the time, however after the fire was extinguished, a family dog was located deceased in the house.

Initial investigations by the Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch indicated that the fire was suspicious.

A 29-year-old local man has since been charged with arson and is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on October 25.

Police would like to speak with the drivers and passengers of a beige/gold Honda Sedan with NSW registration plates, as well as a white Jeep SUV with black and white personalised number plates that were in the area at the time of the fire.

The vehicles were driving in Stewart Avenue between 8.40am and 9am and may have seen something that could assist the investigation.

Police would also like anyone who has a dashcam and was driving along Wood Street near its intersection with Albion Street between 8.40am and 9am to contact police.

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Warwick Police on 07 4660 4430.
