Detectives have charged a man following an attempted robbery in Rangeville yesterday afternoon.

Around 4.30pm a man entered a Perth Street convenience store and threatened the male staff member with a knife, demanding money.

The staff member made his way to a back office and phoned police. The man fled the store.

A short time later the man handed himself in at the Toowoomba Police Station.

A 21-year-old Cambooya man has been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

He will face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
