Women and men with Breast Cancer on the Darling Downs face a tougher time than those in capital cities.

A recent Breast Cancer Network Australia, State of the Nation report released highlights the divide in care and financial impact.

Each year 228 people in the South West region are diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

CEO Kirsten Pilatti says for patients that choose to have private medical treatment in regional centres so they can stay closer to their families, need a clear idea on the ‘real’ costs and support needs to continue even beyond being cleared of the disease.

Better financial assistance and emotional support is needed for people who have to travel to Brisbane for treatment.
