St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School children will be enjoying hot milos this winter thanks to a grant which purchased $15,000 worth of new tuckshop equipment.

Principal Louise Pfingst welcomed the Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant and said it had been used to purchase a Milo urn, coffee machine, pie warmer, sandwich press, and stainless steel benches.

“We have 230 out of our 252 students enrolled in our online tuckshop system,” Mrs Pfingst said.

Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki said the hardworking tuckshop staff spoilt the students for choice.

“Long gone are the days where a tuckshop order meant a sausage roll and flavoured milk scribbled on the back of a brown paper bag,” Mr Janetzki said.

“Students here enjoy Mexican Tuesdays, Aussie Wednesdays and Italian Thursdays,” he said.

“It is wonderful to see these grant recipients being able to improve the services they provide to the local community.”

St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School was one of eight community groups in Toowoomba South to share in $208,417 worth of GCBF grants.

Other successful groups were:

  • Adventurer’s Tennis Club received $35,000 to upgrade tennis courts
  • Kath Dickson Family Centre received $28,999 to purchase a trailer and equipment
  • Rotary Club of Toowoomba North received $10,600 to purchase marquees and a trailer
  • South Toowoomba Junior Rugby Club received $18,418 to purchase equipment
  • Toowoomba Softball Association received $34,900 to purchase equipment and a mower
