Motorcycle Racer in a Critical Condition After Colliding with Concrete Barrier

The Toowoomba based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was kept busy over the weekend.

In its first mission the chopper airlifted a man in his 60s who was critically injured when he collided with a concrete barrier while racing in a motorcycle event in Stanthorpe on Saturday.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew were tasked to Carnell Raceway where they attended to the Gold Coast man who sustained serious multiple trauma injuries.   He was initially transported by road ambulance to Stanthorpe Hospital before being airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition for specialist treatment.

In its second rescue for the weekend, the Toowoomba based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew flew to Miles Hospital before dawn on Sunday morning to airlift a teenage male who had suffered minor burns to his face and hands after an accelerant was thrown on a campfire close to where he was standing.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Burns Unit in a stable condition.
