A car being driven erratically on the wrong side of the road left a trail of chaos and destruction on Mother’s Day that resulted in five people being taken to hospital three sustaining serious injuries.

One man with a serious leg injury had to be cut out of his smashed up ute by firefighters.

The first crash occurred on the Warrego Highway, near the intersection of Tourist Road around 4.35pm.  Three cars were involved in the crash, including one, which drove from the scene and another car that flipped.

A witness reported that the driver of the missing vehicle had been attempting to go down the range on the wrong side of the road.

The second crash happened nearby about 5pm.

A police spokesman said Police are speaking with someone in relation to the incident but have asked for anyone who saw the incident, or who may have dashcam footage to please contact them.
