New Technology to Assist Mums-to-be

The Toowoomba Hospital birthing suite is home to two new machines which will assist the mobility of women in labour thanks to Harvey Norman Toowoomba.

The Avalon Cardiotocographs, valued at over $59,000, provide continual foetal monitoring whilst allowing full movement for women in labour with no cables connecting to the machine.

This means women are able to move freely between rooms, and for example have a shower, without having to cart a machine with them.

Funds used to purchase the machines are a result of the yearly Harvey Norman Birthday Sale.

The annual tradition raised nearly $9,000 in 2016, bringing the total amount of funds donated by Harvey Norman in the last five years to $65,000, allowing the purchase of these state-of-the-art machines.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation chief executive officer Alison Kennedy said the continued generosity of Harvey Norman was a real asset to the Toowoomba community and the hospital.

“These machines are going to make a significant difference to women in the birthing suite at the Toowoomba Hospital, and will also have a positive impact for the staff that work in the suite,” Mrs Kennedy said.

“Harvey Norman continues to be an amazing supporter of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation with their annual birthday sale, and we cannot thank the Harvey Norman team enough for their ongoing support.”
