Withcott Football Club received a grant through the second round of the Nexus Together sponsorship program to purchase training equipment for their expanding membership base.

President of Withcott Football Club, Col Crawford, said the funds would help his club continue to promote the importance of team work and a healthy lifestyle within their local community.

“We would love to see our numbers continue to grow but without the right gear we just weren’t sure we could make that happen,” Mr Crawford said.

“Thanks to Nexus, we can encourage wider local participation in this great game and get more kids away from screens and into sport.”

He added that without financial assistance, not-for-profit organisations just wouldn’t be able to continue and that would be a real blow for small communities like Withcott.

“Clubs like this aren’t just about a game of football, they give people an opportunity to connect and develop social networks that support them on and off the field.”

Mr Crawford said the Withcott Football Club is hoping to hold more come-and-try days at Springbrook Park to showcase the club and build its membership.

“We are a family club and we want to see all ages out there having fun and being active.

“The more families we get involved the closer we get to our goal of building a stronger, happier and healthier Withcott community and that’s something we all benefit from.”
