Businesses across the Darling Downs could be the big winners from funding set aside for the regions by Optus.

Optus announced yesterday that they plan to spend $6million erecting 12 more mobile towers across the region.

Some areas that can expect the new towers include, Hampton, Condamine, Yarraman and Bymount South.

Corporate Affairs Officer Steve Batten says they've targeted sites between areas where they currently service with Optus spending big on improving it service:

“What we are looking at doing is expanding our coverage.  Nationally, it’s currently sitting at about 96.3% for 4G and 98.5% on 3G.

What we are now looking at doing at Optus is filling in the gaps/black spots between the major cities and also along highways in the smaller regional towns.”

A new business centre is scheduled to open in Toowoomba next month.
