Police are investigating an incident where a car was used to gain entry to a business at Yelarbon (50km east of Goondiwindi) in the late hours of January 8 are appealing for witnesses and information.

The car was driven into the front doors of the Taloom Street premises causing damage.  A quantity of cigarettes was stolen from the business.

Police have identified a small white hatch-like vehicle was present in the area prior to the offence occurring.

The vehicle was observed parked on the side of the Cunningham Highway in Yelarbon between 9:40pm and 10:15pm, at which time it was approached by a second vehicle which is believed to have been stolen. Both vehicles left the area in an easterly direction a short time later.

Police want to speak with the person/s in this vehicle and also any drivers that may have passed through the township of Yelarbon at the time and witnessed the parked vehicle.

Police are aware that a number of heavy vehicles travelling in both directions passed the parked vehicle whilst it was waiting.

Anyone who has any information in relation to the sighted vehicle or the offence, or may have passed through the township of Yelarbon between the above mentioned times on January 8, are urged to contact police.
