Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Wilsonton on Sunday (May 6) are appealing for public assistance in the matter.

The 37-year-old woman was found seriously injured at a McGregor Street residence following an alleged serious assault on Friday afternoon. She was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Detective Inspector Lew Strohfeldt has appealed for anyone who may have been in the vicinity around the time of the incident and who may have any information that may assist with the investigation to contact police.

“We’re asking for anyone who was in the McGregor Street, Wilsonton area between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Friday and who may have witnessed a group of people in that area to come forward,” Detective Inspector Strohfeldt said.

“This includes the area of the Captain Cook Reserve and Captain Cook Park.

“We are also asking for people who were travelling in that area and who have dashcam footage to also contact police.”

“This is an ongoing active investigation and any piece of any information that the public can provide us with may be of great assistance to us.”

Nine people have each been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of enter dwelling with intent following initial investigations into the woman’s death.
