A warm summer holiday drawing to a close this means ditching the shorts and thongs and back on with the school uniform and sensible shoes for thousands of young people next week.

That also means kids will be congregating around schools, school crossings and parents will be frantically parking, dropping kids off, increasing traffic around schools and traffic in those areas will generally be bedlam.

Naturally, police are also gearing up to pay attention to school crossings and school speed zones.

Police are keen for drivers to remember there are a number of school zones around Toowoomba, some are all day and some are at peak periods only – regardless though, police will be paying attention so be aware of school crossing supervisors and speeds in school zones.

Check out the video below by Department of Transport and Main Roads, which provides a timely reminder for motorists to slow down, observe speed limits and obey directions from crossing supervisors.
