Police are charging a 20-year-old Caboolture man with an armed carjacking at a Helidon service station yesterday morning.

A Toowoomba dad and son were held up at the Pacific Fuels service station around 10:15AM.

Shane Gundry and 12-year-old Treye were refueling when their car was carjacked by two armed men.

They threatened the two before stealing the car and heading westbound along the Warrego Highway.

Officers attempted to intercept the stolen vehicle in Redcliffe last using tyre deflation devices.

The offender is due in front of a Redcliffe Magistrate today facing a number of charges including armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and theft.
