The sudden and unexplained death of a woman who was found in West Creek, Kearneys Spring early on Monday morning has police seeking the communities help to try and piece together what happened.

They are appealing for information from the public after the body of a 69-year-old woman was found face down in the creek.

The deceased woman was found at around 9.30am in West Creek by a member of the public.

Preliminary investigations suggest the woman left her place of work at a shopping centre in Kearneys Spring at around 2:30am on Monday, August 21.

Toowoomba Police conducted a forensic examination of the scene on Monday with the assistance of officers from the Dive Squad.

A post-mortem examination of the body was conducted yesterday.

Investigations are continuing.
