Residents are being reminded to check their daily water usage and watering habits with the combined dam levels now falling below 50 per cent in the Toowoomba Region.

As water levels continue to decrease, Toowoomba Regional Council Water and Waste Committee chair Cr Nancy Sommerfield, is urging the community to make a conscious effort to conserve water around the home.

“With dam levels falling below 50 per cent, this is a timely reminder to monitor our water usage,” Cr Sommerfield said.

“Water is a precious commodity and it’s up to all of us to make sure we conserve water in our everyday usage.

“There are a number of easy water saving measures we can all take such as using tap timers in the garden, turning off taps while brushing teeth and taking shorter showers.

“Residents should also check they have water efficient devices (to comply with Queensland Efficient Irrigation for Water Conservation Guidelines). The guidelines can be viewed at www.tr.qld.gov.au/waterconservationguidelines
