The community is now invited to share ideas for the long-term growth and development expected to occur in Drayton over the next 20 years.

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Strategic Planning and Economic Development portfolio leader Cr Anne Glasheen said that Drayton has been identified as a future urban growth area since 2003 and Council projections indicate that the area could be home to an additional 4800 people by 2031.

“It is important to plan for this long-term growth and in doing so create a balance between encouraging the area’s continued development and protecting and enhancing the features which make it liveable and unique,” Cr Glasheen said.

“The community can share ideas on future growth and development in Drayton by attending a workshop on 5 June 2018 or by completing a survey.

Workshop registrations have closed but the survey is available via Council’s Your Say website (yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au/dlui) and in hard copy from Customer Service Centres until18 June 2018. Hard copy surveys must be received by Council by 18 June 2018.

Community feedback will be used to guide the development of a structure plan to direct the scale, location and type of future development in Drayton. The structure plan will be in line with a shared vision for the future of Drayton and responsive to identified constraints, opportunities and community and environmental values.

The community will have opportunities to review and comment on the structure plan in late 2018.
