The victim of a road accident last Friday night on the Warrego Highway has had his right leg amputated after he was hit by two vehicles as he was walking home.

The 30-year-old Chinchilla man was resuscitated twice at the scene before he was airlifted to a Brisbane Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

He is currently in an induced coma at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, not having regained consciousness since the accident.

The man had been attempting to walk home to Chinchilla from Jondaryan after being unable to find a ride home last Friday evening when he was struck.

It is reported that he been walking west bound on the highway between Jondaryan and Bowenville at around 7pm when he attempted to cross the highway when he was struck by a sedan and a truck travelling west.

The truck travelling behind the sedan swerved to avoid the car and man.

The truck then struck the man, resulting in the man being pinned underneath the rear wheels of the truck.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
