Four officers receive Bravery Medals

Almost a year on from the fatal shooting in the Lockyer Valley that claimed the life of Senior Constable Brett Forte, he has been posthumously honoured with a Commendation for Brave Conduct.

Senior Constable Forte was one of five officers from Toowoomba to be presented with a medal for their actions of bravery.

Senior Constable Cath Neilsen, Senior Constable Stephen Barlow, Acting Sergeant Scott Hill and Constable Brittany Poulton will all be recipients of a Bravery Medal, all have been hailed heroes for their actions during the shooting on May 29th.

The four officers risked their lives in the Lockyer Valley, as a cop killer sprayed them with bullets from an automatic rifle.

In total, 21 Queenslanders will honored as part of the 2018 Australian Bravery Decorations.

The Australian Bravery Decorations recognise acts of bravery by people who put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives or property of others and nominations are considered twice annually by an independent advisory body.
